HISTORY
In october of 1966, I started sas to represent the manufacturers in my field. I was an experimental stress person and, therefore, named my company Stress Analysis Services. SAS, Inc. was incorporated in 1970.
In the beginning I represented only two principals, both stress analysis firms; William T. Bean, Inc. (at the time the exclusive sales outlet for Micro-Measurements strain gages) and Photolastic, Inc. (this later became the Photolastic Division of The Measurements Group). In my first full year of operations (1967), sales totaled $658,000.
Early in 1968, I convinced my old friend and mentor, William P. (Bill) Smith (68-80), who had replaced me as regional manager for the Budd Company, to join me as my first employee. Bill established a Michigan office and served that area for 6 years. Bill then relocated to the Medina office (original headquarters) and trained Paul Jurewich (73-89) to replace him in Michigan.
Early in my career, I encountered a young engineer from Purdue who was working for Goodyear. In this young man, George Siefert (77-05), I saw much talent and promise. In 1977, I was successful in convincing George to join sas. In his time with this company, George won more sales awards than any other employee.
Along the way came many other fine additions to our sales staff:
Connie Dague (80 - present)
Debbie Kessel (83 - present)
John Guy (87 - present)
Mark Davey (87 - present)
Tim McPherson (90 - present)
Dave Ertel (93 - present)
Jeff Drecnik (93 - present)
Jessica King (96 - present)
Bob Perelman (01 - present)

Tony Sahm - (05 - present)
Mike Kane - (06 - present)
Neill Murphy (08 - present)
Karen Parker (08 - present)
Dan Dykert (08 - present)
In 1987, my son, Mark, joined the sales staff as a Cleveland area salesman. Mark is an EE from Cornell University and had spent four years in technical marketing at General Electric, and one year as a regional sales manager. In 1991, Mark was appointed sas vice-president in charge of sales and marketing, and in 1994 was appointed president.
In June 1999, John Guy was appointed partner and board member of SAS, Inc.. In January 2008, John became Managing Partner.
As chairman, I am very proud both of the people who work at SAS, as well as the companies that we represent. Today we sell over 34 million dollars worth of products per year, and with over forty years of sales experience and growth behind us, I still feel that people are the heart of our success. my continued commitment to you is to provide the finest service and products possible.
Our on-line and print catalogs will continue to provide our customers and prospects with a concise listing and description of our principals and their products. We have tried our best to make it helpful. Please let me know in what way we could improve future issues.
Thank you for your continued support. Please never hesitate to contact me if you feel there are areas where we can do a better job for you.
